While other financial institutions have left the downtown Mt. Pleasant area, ICCU remains committed to keeping a downtown presence. We’re your hometown credit union and Mt. Pleasant is our hometown, too!
So, when the building we were leasing went up for sale yet was too large for our needs and had more maintenance demands than desirable for our membership for ICCU to pursue a purchase, we quickly began looking for new space in the downtown area. After exploring several options, we landed on the ground-floor space in the new multilevel building that houses the GreenTree Co-op Market and Broadway Lofts apartments. I jokingly (yet seriously) say, “ICCU together with GreenTree is a great fit – they are a cooperative, we are a cooperative; their name is GreenTree, our logo is a green tree – it was meant to be!” We truly are an ideal fit together in the space.
The ICCU team has worked hard to design a modern, functional space that our members will be proud of and enjoy visiting. Here’s a sneak peek at what it will look like and some of the key features you will enjoy, both inside and out.
First and foremost, ICCU will have four dedicated parking spaces in the back, reserved solely for ICCU members. This has long been a need for our members wanting to use our downtown office and we’re thrilled to be able to provide that in the new space.
Additionally, the space will have an open design with our first teller pod with cash recycler for improved security and efficiency with cash operations. Best of all, the same friendly employees you have come to know and love will be right there to serve you. Facing Broadway, our new ATM boasts deposit automation and will not require envelopes for your ATM deposits – whether cash or check. Inside, we’ll even have a spot for you to fill your water bottle.
Another first in this location is a video booth prototype. This feature will help you if you need to speak with someone at another office (for example a mortgage loan officer) and don’t want to make the trip to the Isabella Road location. This prototype will help us as we look to the future and the possibility of an office location in another town where we may not have a mortgage lender onsite and the drive is farther than a simple cross-town trek.
Construction is nearing completion and we’re excited to make our move over Easter weekend. We can’t wait to welcome you! Our downtown branch will be closed on Good Friday, April 7th, and we’ll see you as we open for business in the new space on Monday, April 10th. We will host a Grand Opening celebration shortly thereafter and hope you will join us! Please watch for more information on the celebration details.
